Midweek activities shift to online-only

Northwoods will continue to host in-person and online Sunday services. Midweek classes and groups, however, will be suspended or offered online-only through January 4. Our response is designed to protect attendees, volunteers, and staff as well as maximize the viability of Sunday services. We continue to pray for our caregivers, communities, and country.

October, 2020

All campuses are meeting in-person at regular times. Social distancing and sanitation protocols remain in place, including frequent sanitization of public areas, restrooms, surfaces, and auditoriums.

Midweek activities vary by campus.

In-person services to resume Sept. 6 in Peoria & Canton

All those recently diagnosed are recovering quickly, and leadership continues to assess health safety situations related to our ministry gatherings. Clear protocols are being reinforced regarding return-to-work scenarios for staff.
We are glad to share the following updates:
  • Services will resume on campus in Peoria and Canton on Sunday, Sept. 6.
  • Galesburg and Chillicothe will continue meeting at their locations as planned, but Peoria and Canton will be online-only this Sunday, Aug. 30.
  • Midweek ministries will resume Tuesday, Sept. 8.
  • Buildings will reopen to the public beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Contact the church at 309-243-1550 with any questions.

August 21, 2020

At Northwoods, providing safe experiences for our guests is a high priority. Starting this Sunday, August 23, we will be hosting services online only for our Peoria & Canton campuses and all midweek activities will be paused at the Peoria campus starting next week. The building is also closed. Our Galesburg & Chillicothe campuses will meet on Sunday as planned.

At this time we have two positive cases of COVID-19 on our staff team. These people are safe at home, and all who were in close contact with them have been notified. Halting activity on the Peoria campus will allow us to deep clean our office areas and the church overall.

The Elders and the Executive Team will be reviewing, evaluating, and planning while keeping a focus on the health & safety of our staff, volunteers, and guests so that we can resume in person services as soon as possible. As further information becomes available, we'll let you know!

Please feel free to contact the church at 309-243-1550 with any questions.

March 2020

Northwoods onsite services are resuming as we are able to honor official guidelines, prepare appropriate additional cleaning and social distancing measures, and—in the case of our portable campuses—secure meeting locations.

All campuses will open in stages and with limited capacity. Guests are requested to to RSVP using the Northwoods mobile app or here on this website.

We realize we have many in our church on each side of this decision—those for it and those against it—with varying degrees of passion. We have made this decision based on how God’s Word and His Spirit have led us, not to make people happy or to make a cultural or political statement. Please be aware of this very important point: No one is required to come to church. It has and will always be a voluntary gathering. We advise anyone feeling sick to stay home. We believe the best person to decide whether or not you should gather with the church is you!
