Church Plant Process

Northwoods is committed to planting strong and healthy churches. We believe that strong and healthy churches focus on three primary outcomes:

Outcomes

  • Bring people into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Build people into disciples and leaders
  • Send people into ministry and mission

Every church planting leader at Northwoods is thoroughly equipped and coached through our five-phase church planting process in order to maximize these outcomes.

Five-Phase Church Planting

  • Phase One Explore the call and the community of church planting.
  • Phase Two Design the “DNA” of the new church.
  • Phase Three Build the church planting team.
  • Phase Four Launch the mission and ministries of the new church.
  • Phase Five Lead the new church to “Bring, Build, Send.”

Church Plant Locations

How We Determine the Best Place to Plant

When it comes to selecting the communities to plant new churches, we believe that it is our responsibility to follow Christ’s command in John 4:35 to “Look at the fields” to see where they are ripe for harvest. And in accordance with Acts 1:8, we look at local, regional, national, and global fields.

The T.A.P. Team Process

One of our most effective tools in determining the target community to plant a church is our Target Analysis Plan (T.A.P.) process. The T.A.P. Team is a group of 8-12 people working together over a period of 8-12 weeks to discern where the Holy Spirit is leading the planter, church, or sending agency to start the new church.

Each of our church planters are thoroughly trained and coached throughout the T.A.P. Team process resulting in a target community that has been identified as fertile soil for a new church plant.
